Farm Days

Experience the joy of hands-on sustainable farming with our Farm Days at Eco Sankofa! These volunteer opportunities invite you to roll up your sleeves and dive into a variety of activities, from tending to our animals and ecological systems to engaging in new projects like planting or harvesting in the garden.

Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or new to the wonders of working the land, Farm Days provide a perfect blend of learning, community involvement, and the satisfaction of contributing to a greener world.

Join us to connect with nature, learn sustainable practices, and help us grow at EcoSankofa.

Workshops & Consulting

Workshops range from current projects to replicable series. 

Past projects include: Rooster and Quail meat processing, Rain garden building, Cistern and gutter installation, solar installation, and 

Recurring Workshops are:

  • Building a Ecosystem Tank

  • Building a compost

  • Building a chicken coop

  • Building a rainwater collection system
    (2 part workshop)

Garden Co-op

A project of the Environmental Justice Coalition, we meet monthly to support each other's gardens and farms.

To become a member you attend a garden day and then you qualify to sign up for a volunteer day for the team to come to your garden.

Reptile Rescue 

At Eco Sankofa Farm, we are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Our focus is on Monitor lizards because they are very misunderstood and intelligent animals that too often people get as babies and are not able to care for their needs in adulthood. We specialize in taming the ones people give up on for being too aggressive. Although our capacity is limited, we strive to provide these creatures with the care they need to thrive. 

Our services include taking in these animals, rehabilitating them, and enhancing their living environments. We build bioactive ecosystem tanks that reach an equilibrium and require less cleaning through decomposition. Some of our lizards we take careful consideration to rehome to the right families. This rescue service is just one of the many ways EcoSankofa Farm is committed to supporting the wellbeing of all animals in our care.

Tours

Join us for tours at Eco Sankofa Farm, where sustainability meets innovation! Every weekend, explore our thriving farm that showcases a different way to be in relationship with the earth and ecological resources. Witness firsthand how circular systems and permaculture principles harmoniously work together to create a self-sustaining environment.

You'll get an up-close look at our constantly evolving rain garden, the use of a rain cistern, and an innovative laundry-to-landscape irrigation system. These tours are a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in sustainable living and ecological conservation to learn practical applications that can be replicated in your own backyard.
