Sankofa Sitting
Sankofa Sitting is part of the nonprofit eco family business. We are a centrally located sustainable urban farm with a large backyard and plenty of enrichment for dogs.
All family members and residents of Eco Sankofa care for the dogs so they are never alone. Dr. Yeshaq leads the pack, with a PhD in Sustainability and incorporates that into the design of all elements from our dog poop composter to our home made treats.
Their family has been watching dogs on Rover for half a decade, because dogs and animals are a deep passion of ours. We specialize in long term stays and repeat visits because we really try to be a second home for dogs, we also provide discounts for these types of stays. We try to keep the vibe of a dog park, with all the dogs playing together in the backyard, so we only book dogs who can hang out with other dogs.
Stay, Play.
Make an Impact.
Doggy Daycare & Boarding
We try to be like a second home for pups, whether it's watching your dog for the day at our doggy day park where they get plenty of exercise and socialization so they will be wiped out at night, or keeping your dog safe and active while you are out of town. Boarding and Daycare is our bread and butter at Sankofa Sitting.
Doggy Training
Susan is our experienced dog whisper and trainer. She specializes in training hyper dogs manners and patience, such as stopping them from jumping on you or pulling on the leash. She also does training for different commands like sit, stay, wait and other basics.
Make it stand out.
More about the nonprofit
We work to develop a relationship with the dogs who stay with us and go to great lengths to make them feel at home, whether that is buying wet food & treats to put on top so that they eat their food or letting them stay in our office or bedroom with us because they are nervous. We understand dogs are people's children and we treat them as such. We have experience taking care of dogs with trauma and separation anxiety, we understand the difficulties of having a dog who is scared to be alone.
We are working to make the house and all operations completely sustainable and closed loop. We have chickens and quails in a dog-proof cage ( so the dogs love to chase them through the fence), four different composts, a reptile rescue and do farm and agriculture workshops for the community. Operations for our programming is paid for via dog boarding, so your stay with us also helps fund larger community projects.
